Kindle App for BlackBerry

Published: May 13th, 2010 | Author: Kate Add Comment

Ever since Amazon Kindle released their app for the iPhone, consumers and retailers were begging for something similar to be brought to the BlackBerry, and now it’s here! The Kindle app for BlackBerry gives you access to over 400,000 Kindle books, most of which cost less than $10.

The Kindle app for BlackBerry brings a special feature that will sync many different devices for you. The feature is called Whispersync and it will automatically sync your Kindle device with your BlackBerry, your PC, or your iPhone. So you never have to worry about things like losing notes that you made on your Kindle e-books through your Kindle device, or remembering which page you left off on when reading a Kindle book on your BlackBerry. The Whispersync feature will take care of all of that for you and will make sure that you always have all the information you’ve installed onto your Kindle, at all times.

The Kindle app for the BlackBerry will also let you preview the first few pages of any book that you might be interested in. So you can check out books that you may have never thought about buying and find out that you love them. Or maybe that book you were really looking forward to isn’t so great after the first few pages, and decide not to buy it after all.

Although the Kindle books for the BlackBerry are available at very cheap prices, there are still some things at the Kindle Store that are not available for your BlackBerry. Things like newspapers, magazines, and blogs are currently not available for the BlackBerry. But hey, it took a lot of nagging to even get Amazon to release an app so maybe with some more nagging, they’ll include these features in their next version too!

And while Kindle e-books may have a price tag attached to them, the Kindle app for BlackBerry is completely free and you can download it here.

The Truly Amazing Kindle App for Blackberry!

Published: Feb 19th, 2010 | Author: Kate Add Comment

This is truly the groundbreaking stuff that new technology is made of! Blackberry now has a Kindle BlackBerry app for your mobile device so you can always access everything you hold on your audiobook device, even when  you don’t have it with you. Just one more way that  you no longer need to bring dozens of electronics, cables, adapters, and wires with you everywhere you go!

The app has been released by Amazon and uses WhisperSync technology to allow all of your different devices, such as your Blackberry, your Kindle, and your PC all at the same time. The Kindle app will automatically detect where you last  bookmarked your page as well as any notes you’ve previously made. In addition to all of this, the Kindle app for Blackberry will also let you view samples of books that you want to purchase so you can get a better look before you buy. And you can now add on to all of your collections right from your Blackberry, by also directly purchasing them – all right from your palm!

And of course the Kindle Blackberry app wouldn’t be nearly as amazing if it came at a high price. But it comes with the exact right price tag of $0. The Kindle app is available for free and is suitable for BlackBerry Storm, BlackBerry Curve 8520, 8900, Bold 9000, 9700, Storm 2 9550, and the Tour 9630. It can be downloaded here.

As awesome as the free Kindle app sounds, it does come with its drawbacks. Magazines, blogs, and newspapers currently cannot be viewed on Kindle Blackberry, and it’s only available in the United States. We can only hope that Amazon realizes just how popular this is going to be and makes it available to all of their customers very soon!
